Udi's Part 2

I tried the Udi's bagels this morning and they were really pretty good!  Since I come from New York, I know a good bagel and this is not a good New York bagel, of course, but if you eat Thomas' bagels or grocery store bagels, then the Udi's are fantastic!  Bagels generally have EXTRA vital wheat gluten in them to give them that bagel-y texture so GF bagels will not feel the same way.

I took the frozen Udi's bagel and defrosted in the microwave for about 45 seconds or so.  After that I put it in my toaster and toasted it on the medium setting.  Since I have a cheap-ass toaster (this is a gluten free only toaster, just for me) one side of one half of the bagel got a little crispy, but funny thing is, it tasted like a regular bagel that was a little too crispy!

The one complaint I have about Udi's has nothing to do with taste or texture.  They don't put any instructions for reheating on their frozen products!  I found this a problem with the cinnamon rolls as well.  I was just winging it with the bagel this morning.  I suppose ideally you should take the frozen product out of the freezer, then defrost, and then heat but how many people do that?  Also, since there are NO directions, I don't know the best way to heat their products.  This is a bad reflection on them since improper heating may cause the texture or flavor to be off.  They really should correct this, even for their own sake.

  1. You should call them or send them an email with all that in it... usually companies send you coupons for free stuff if you have even a small complaint.
